Glendale Frost - OP (Orange Pekoe)

Glendale Frost.
Glendale Estate as the name denotes is "valley within a valley" at an altitude of about 1700 meters (5600 feet). The estate experiences frosty weather during the winter months from December to February and the special tea produced during this period has a unique taste and aroma which will chill the taste buds when sipped hot or cold and hence called as "Glendale Frost"

The Grade Called Glendale Frost - OP (Orange Pekoe).

During winter months the growth rate of tea shoots is very slow and thereby the concentration of the cell component goes up very much. The handpicked leaves are withered in large troughs by passing very cold frosty dry air to remove certain amount of water from the fresh leaves. This makes the leaf soft and pliable for the conditioned rolling operations. During the rolling process, the concentrated juice from inside the leaf comes out and gets coated on the surface of the leaf. The tea when processed under very cold conditions takes longer time for oxidation and the tea is dried very carefully at a temperature just above the boiling point of water to retain the trapped aroma within the tea, till it reaches the drinking cups.

The long twisted tender leaves and the buds (Pekoe) form part of this grade.

Glendale Frost gives mellow liquor with an exotic floral aroma and tastes good when sipped with a dash of lime and sugar.
